Madesimo bike paradise

Once the snow departs and the meadows breathe again, Madesimo becomes a veritable cycle-path.
 
Whether on Mtb or electric bike, the resort and its surrounds offers trails for all ages, shapes and sizes! From the beginner to the most dedicated, along rugged and demanding mountain paths, on long panoramic biking tours, or indeed just local. A fantastic itinerary that springs immediately to mind is the Alpe Groppera loop taking you into woodland above the town and heading for Lago Azzurro at Alpe Motta, or alternatively the Andossi circuit from where you can appreciate some of the most commanding peaks in Valle Spluga. 
 
From 29th June until the 1st September the Made Bike Park is open; it’s the ideal setting for experts who appreciate highly technical trails, but there are also easier routes on which to practise manoeuvres on long descents through woodland.
 
There are also a number of bike-related events that take place in the summer months in and around Madesimo including Enjoy Stelvio on 30th June. The ever-popular Coppa Italia for downhill is an event organised by the cycling magazine Rouleur Italia and the end of season PartyBike celebration are high-spots. Also worth a mention are days dedicated to Spluga da Capogiro: Sundays on which the SS36 from Campodonico and above are closed to traffic to permit the safe, enjoyable ascent of this spectacular stretch.
