One of Valchiavenna gems

A handful of habitations nestling on an expanse of green, surrounded by larch and fir woodland, crossed by the Liro torrent: introducing Vho, where I spent wonderful childhood holidays and continue to celebrate even today. The beauty and tranquility of the place can be enjoyed all year round, but especially at the time of year when cold winter days are giving way to spring sunshine warming the earth, woods regaining their colour and life begins anew.
Time to plan excursions with friends at the heart of beautiful nature. And my family is no exception.

Leaving early in the morning for destinations in both Valchiavenna and Valle Spluga. In particular I remember picnics with a rather special savoury pie.

Their preparation has become a personal passion. Savoury pies - like spinach strudel - see recipe, are perfect for outings in mountain territories: practical to carry, produced in a range of wholesome flavours to suit all tastes and perfect for sharing. A real concentration of energy and character.Acquamerla, in Campodolcino was always a favourite natural playground, where water is the key attraction. My brothers and I spent many happy afternoons entertained by the colourfull magic balls carried across the meadow by the flow of a clear stream. To get here we would wander through woods and meadows and then follow la via dei Lamponi. An absolute pleasure. And there’s plenty more to discover in Valchiavenna. And all the time in the world!
