Valchiavenna
Homeland in Valchiavenna is a project dedicated to outdoor experiences in Montespluga, offering guided activities such as snowshoeing, winter hikes and snow adventures designed to help visitors discover the area in an authentic and immersive way.
Within the alpine setting of Valchiavenna, Homeland focuses on direct engagement with the landscape, providing outdoor activities designed to experience the mountains actively and consciously. Its programmes take place mainly in the Montespluga and Valle Spluga areas, environments characterised by open spaces, high-altitude scenery and natural conditions particularly suited to winter activities.
Homeland’s experiences include snowshoe hikes, winter trekking and guided excursions that allow participants to explore the region even during the colder months. Activities are designed for different levels of experience, making the mountains accessible both to first-time visitors and to those already familiar with alpine environments.
One of the project’s distinctive features is its attention to the surrounding landscape. Activities are conceived not only as sporting experiences but also as opportunities to connect with the environment, understand its characteristics and appreciate it more deeply. Excursions take place in wide, largely untouched natural settings where contact with nature is direct and continuous.
The Montespluga area is one of the main focal points of Homeland’s activities. Located at over 1,900 metres above sea level, it offers open landscapes and ideal conditions for travelling across snow-covered terrain, including valleys, plateaus and routes far from groomed ski slopes. This setting creates a quieter and more immersive experience compared to busier ski resorts.
Homeland also stands out for its experiential approach. Activities are often combined with opportunities for sharing experiences, discovering the local area and learning about its natural environment. In this way, each excursion becomes a complete experience that combines movement, observation and knowledge.
The project forms part of the broader range of winter activities available in Valchiavenna, enriching the destination’s offer with an approach focused on exploration and slow travel. Homeland is therefore an ideal choice for those looking for a different way to experience the mountains, away from the more structured dynamics of ski resorts.
Taking part in a Homeland experience means connecting with a more authentic side of Valchiavenna, where the landscape, silence and rhythms of nature become central elements of the activity.
