Valchiavenna
The Via Spluga and Andossi Loop is a medium-difficulty trail running route, designed for experienced runners or as a long run for more highly trained athletes.
The route starts at the Campodolcino Sports Centre, a reference point for trail running enthusiasts, equipped with free parking, a bar and changing rooms with showers.
After the initial section along Via dei Lamponi, the route joins the viaSpluga, crossing a fir forest and reaching Lake Isola.
From Isola, the trail continues towards Mottaletta, alternating meadows, larch forests, alpine pastures and stream crossings until reaching the bridge over the Liro stream. A steep climb leads to the Cardinello Gorge, a striking ledge carved into the rock that leads to the dam and Lake Montespluga.
From the lake, the route descends towards Stuetta and crosses the Andossi plateau along a particularly smooth dirt track. The route then passes near Madesimo, offering wide views over Valle Spluga, before the final ascent and descent towards Campodolcino.
The Via Spluga and Andossi Loop is part of the network developed together with Francesco Puppi, who contributed to the design of the routes by enhancing the technical and scenic characteristics of Valle Spluga as a training area.
