In recent years, Valchiavenna has increasingly invested in outdoor cycling activities, complementing its Alpine routes and mountain trails with new spaces dedicated to learning and technical skills. The pump track was created with this purpose: to provide an inclusive environment where people can safely learn to ride, improve their bike handling and develop balance and coordination while having fun.

The circuit consists of a closed loop featuring rollers, banked turns and changing gradients designed to be ridden without pedalling, using body movement and the momentum generated by the terrain. This is where the term “pump” comes from: riders propel themselves through the track by pumping the bike, maintaining speed and flow through technique.

One of the most appreciated features of the pump track is its versatility. The circuit can be used with mountain bikes, BMX bikes, gravel bikes, scooters, skateboards and rollerblades, creating a shared space that welcomes a wide range of users. Children and beginners can learn the basics of bike control, while more experienced riders have an ideal environment to improve their technique, speed and precision.

The growth of cycling culture in Valchiavenna is also supported by modern facilities like this, designed not only as sports venues but also as places where people can meet and share their passion. The pump track fits perfectly into an area already renowned for downhill, enduro, road cycling and MTB routes, further expanding the valley’s cycling offer.

Alongside its technical value, the pump track also has an educational role. Learning how to manage lines, balance and speed helps riders gain greater control of their bikes on trails and during outdoor rides. For this reason, it is often used by bike schools, sports clubs and activities designed for younger riders.

The presence of facilities like the pump track reflects Valchiavenna’s evolution towards a destination increasingly focused on outdoor sports and active mobility, welcoming both residents and visitors throughout the year. It is a place where cycling becomes an experience of technique, learning and sharing, surrounded by the Alpine landscapes of the valley.

Experiencing the pump track in Valchiavenna means discovering a different way to ride: more dynamic, intuitive and engaging. An accessible and enjoyable experience that combines learning, adrenaline and freedom, turning every turn into a new challenge to master.
