It all started about 40 years ago at Basel. At that time Walter Hunkeler worked as a lab technician for the Roche pharmaceutical company. A secure position, a quiet existence; but Walter clearly thought there was more to life. So he set off in search of the ideal place where he could discover or indeed reinvent himself.
Somewhere he could immerse himself within nature. After a pilgrimage of sorts – fate was to bring him to Valbregaglia where he immediately felt at home. His sound scientific background allied to an insatiable appetite to discover the natural world all around inspired him to consider the inherent medicinal properties of mountain herbs. Partly as a hobby but alongside a genuine passion shared by his wife, they began to produce skin creams at their home in Soglio which they then marketed under the brand Soglio Produkte. Over time the range of products gradually increased: the laboratory created balms, creams, essential oils, shampoos and soaps, all meticulously produced using alpine herbs and flowers and a base of goat’s butter and sheep’s milk whey.
Natural, high-quality ingredients, selected with the utmost care, processed and packaged within the Bregaglia laboratory - and then despatched worldwide.
Soglio Produkte has become a veritable sign of regional excellence and now employs a 14 strong team and is - quite literally - a natural tourist attraction.Just
